Lunch Line — Support
Lunch Line shows Chicago Public Schools lunch menus. If something is wrong,
email hicks.myronj@gmail.com and
say which school and which day — that is usually enough to find it.
Common questions
- My school shows no menu.
- Most often the district has not entered one yet; menus often appear a few
days ahead rather than weeks. The app says when it cannot tell the difference
between "no menu entered" and "no school that day", because in the published
data those look identical.
- I cannot find my school.
- Search by the name the district uses, which is often shorter than the one
on the sign. Schools with similar names are listed separately — ALCOTT ES,
ALCOTT HS and Alcott Pre-K are three different schools.
- The menu is showing the wrong grade.
- Tap the grade band under the meal tabs. One school can publish up to six
different menus a day, and the app has to pick one to start with.
- It says the menu might be out of date.
- The app could not reach the menu service, so it is showing the last menu it
downloaded rather than nothing at all. It only says this when it is true.
- Why are there no allergen or calorie details?
- Deliberately. The published data is not consistent enough to rely on for a
child with an allergy, and a partial answer would be worse than none. For
anything about allergies, speak to your school directly.
- Which schools are covered?
- All 649 Chicago Public Schools. No other district, for now.
Privacy
See the privacy policy. Short version: no
account, nothing that identifies you, and the app is built so it cannot report
which school you chose.
